If you’ve never cooked with Lion’s Mane mushrooms before, you’re in for a revelation. With their meaty texture, rich umami flavour, and incredible health benefits, these fungi make an excellent stand-in for steak. Once seared and seasoned, Lion’s Mane delivers a bite so satisfying that even die-hard carnivores do a double-take.
At Seedleaves and Applegarth Farm, we grow Lion’s Mane vertically in our farm. Fresh from harvest, it cooks up beautifully—crisp on the outside, juicy and tender within.
We put a little video together as to start the steak process, it's super simple and thoroughly delicious.
Once you've prepared the steak, the marinading is down to what you fancy. You can give it an asian twist, a traditional mediteranean angle- the fungi is there to suck up the taste that you want to imbue.
