Brassicas are leafy vegetables that include all the different types of cabbages including Spring Greens, Savoy, Red Cabbage, kale, Cavolo Nero, Brussels Sprouts, Cauliflowers, Pak Choi, Broccoli and Sprouting Broccoli. These belong to the group called cruciferous vegetables which are particularly beneficial for health.


They contain phytochemicals and other compounds that may help detoxify certain cancer substances before they have a chance to cause harm to the body. This family of vegetables are also rich in beta-carotene (the vegetable form of Vitamin A), Vitamins B1 and C, folate, calcium, non-harm iron and potassium as well as fibre.
